If you find an orphaned baby, you should contact your local wildlife rehabilitation personnel or the International Wildlife Rehabilitation Council. In majority of case the mother is near, but is afraid to come closer. If there is no good alternative, you can raise the baby yourself.

Keeping such birds as pets is illegal in the USA. They are not adapted to captive living and die soon. However everybody can feed them with sugar syrup. You should make a feeder, fill it with food and watch the wonderful view of hummers hovering. When you buy chicks, evaluate the chick carefully and view a picture.
